‘Labyrinth’ wallpaper

QUEENSLAND ART GALLERY | GALLERY OF MODERN ART

QAGOMA’s 2024 ‘Fairy Tales’ exhibition included a number of props from the 1986 movie ‘Labyrinth’. Most of the scenes in which the props appeared occur in the character Sarah’s bedroom, which featured a distinctive floral wallpaper which proved impossible to source. For this project I designed a replica wallpaper that, although using different base imagery, looked very similar to the original. It was quite the challenge to assemble enough screenshots from the film showing enough of the pattern to reference and repeat. It was printed on a beautiful textured fabric wallpaper by Colour Chiefs, Brisbane, and acted as an appropriate backdrop to these iconic movie props.
